RIGGING GEAR SALES, INC. was founded in 1988 by Bruce and Bonnie Forster. Hydraulic Gantries were still a relatively new concept and were not widely used in the industry. RGS's initial territory was Illinois and Wisconsin. Today, RGS services much of the US and International marketplace. IN 1990, RGS recognized a need for rental equipment to promote the use of hydraulic gantries when we purchased our first rental machine, a Model 4160, 160 ton capacity telescopic hydraulic gantry. The rental concept was an instant hit, offering customers the opportunity to use hydraulic gantries, without the capital expenditure of owning such equipment. Further, the rental concept allowed customers to "try out" equipment before purchasing, enabling them to be sure which model would best suit their company's needs. This principle holds true even to this day, but RGS has been able to adapt to market demands in many other ways too:
Below is a time line of significant events for RGS over the years. 1988 - Founded by Bruce and Bonnie Forster 1990 - Purchased first rental gantry, a 160 ton, model 4160 1992 - Purchased first mobile machine, a Mobilift 1995 - Joined SC&RA as an Allied Member 1997 - Built and moved into current facility located in Dixon, IL 2005 - Purchased the first 34PT8552WT, 850 ton Power Tower produced by Lift Systems, Inc. 2007 - Expanded the Dixon, IL facility with a 4800 sq. ft. addition - Ordered the first 34PT10060WT, 1000 ton Power Tower from Lift Systems, Inc. - RGS became the North American dealer for Nicolas, a French manufacturer of special purpose self-propelled hydraulic platform trailers - RGS purchased the exclusive rights to build the POWERBAR |
